Today is almost over. It is the first day of my post every day initiative, and I almost blew it.

I just go home from AAR, and after stuff. Much fun.

My RAM upgrade was waiting here when I got home, so I need to power off my computer now. Recap later. Upgrade now.

The daily boring

I'm going to update this blog every day until I leave on the 18th.

I'm counting this as the post for the 3rd.

Something new and wonderful tomorrow. I've been really extra lazy lately, but I'm coming out of it.

When I say really lazy, I mean I got carpal tunnel from playing with my computer.

It wasn't a complete waste of time, I did about a hundred tweaks to os ten, and I cleaned up my mp3 collection somewhat. De-DRMed the few songs I had from the itunes store. Fixed the ID3 info for the whole library. Other stuff.

Site updates

I added the Kiva banner to my page. I've advocated for this site many times before on these pages, and now it will be a permanent feature. It comes right under my picture because, for me, altruism follows vanity.

Also, I'm wondering if the flexible format makes lines of text too long for people who have widescreen displays. Obviously if you've got a super-huge monitor like an Apple Cinema Display, you aren't going to maximize your browser, so it doesn't matter. I'm thinking more about people on widescreen laptops where the screen isn't really that big. I guess I'll just go to the UCI bookstore and check on different computers, since nobody ever gives me feedback.

Oh well, I don't care too much, I'm too lazy to really get in to the design of this site. It is all stream-of-consciousness inscrutable drivel anyhow. And yeah, I'm up at 4 am. grr

Also, I added back the google pack ad way at the bottom on the sidebar. I think it is a really good package of software, and yes I get paid if you click on it and download the software. I don't think I'm supposed to say that, but I personally recommend the software so if you want to check it out I may as well get a couple bucks.

Tags

I haven't got all my posts tagged, so when you click "pictures" for instance, it doesn't bring up every post that has pictures.

I'll try to fix that some time during the next weeks.

When post through my blackberry, it doesn't even allow me to tag, I have to go back and do it from my computer.

If I spent that much time on my computer, I wouldn't post from my blackberry I the first place.

Well, my traffic is up...

The traffic on this blog has gone up lately, and I dunno why. None of my visitors post comments, so they are probably women who are stalking me, or somebody who I have offended in my adventures--also stalking me.

However, if you are not a stalker, or for some reason you care about people in the developing world, even though you are a deranged stalker, I entreat thee to consider a donation to kiva.org.

I should add, that this post has been getting a lot of hits lately, which is kinda contributing to the stalker hypothesis. However, if your planning to try that choke on me (especially the Anton Chigur one,) be prepared to be reversed and wake up in an ER.

Well, shit

Just like that, my blog got indexed AND it is the number one result for "spencer fern." I don't know if that is good or bad, but it is what I was going for.

I've tried a bunch of different things, but I think the template change is what did it.

Ugly

I changed my blogs template temporarily to a lame-boring-defaultish one because I'm afraid the old one was causing google to not index my site. We'll see if it changes anything.

Friggin toys

I have owned:

1. A TI-85 programable calculator
   
2. A PalmPilot Personal
3. An Asus PDA
4. A Sharp Zaurus CL-3200 clamshell PDA

Now, I have just acquired a Blackberry Curve 8310. With all of the above I was ultimately disappointed. They were all supposed to be the pocket-able computer that would help me get my life together. With each I eventually realized that I just needed to get my life together, and a fucking toy wasn't gonna do it.

However, with my Blackberry, I'm still in the honeymoon phase. I'm paying $40 for unlimited internet access and 1000 text messages, but it has been incredibly useful in the past few days I've had it.

Example:
I was at the carwash with my mother, just waiting, and she was saying the she was telling someone about this fish in the Amazon river that tries to swim up into you when you pee. The person she was talking to was sure this was a myth. Well, within a minute I was reading to her about the candiru fish.

Okay, that sounds trivial. Anyway, I still like this thing.
